Porcelain Veneers in Santa Maria

If you find yourself hiding your smile due to cosmetic imperfections, veneers may be the best choice for you. This minimally invasive, attractive, and effective cosmetic option helps many patients achieve a confident smile in a near instant.

Anthony Riforgiate, DDS, offers porcelain veneers to his patients in and around Santa Maria. With a steady hand and an artistic touch, Dr. Riforgiate can refresh your smile using porcelain veneers.

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable tooth shaped porcelain that are custom-made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile. Porcelain veneers can fix a variety of cosmetic issues, including:

  • slightly crooked or twisted teeth
  • severely stained teeth
  • disproportionally sized teeth
  • teeth that are too small or too large
  • unwanted gaps
  • uneven spacing
  • worn down or chipped teeth

Any combination of the above imperfections can be remedied at one with porcelain veneers.

Why Porcelain?

Dr. Riforgiate uses only porcelain for his veneers. Porcelain is a durable material that is highly customizable. It can be fired to a precisely individual size and shape, and can be fired to a patient’s color preference. Patients enjoy participating in the design of their veneers for treatments that enhance and flatter their natural beauty.

Porcelain is as strong as tooth enamel, and thus can withstand normal use. A set of porcelain veneers is expected to last upwards of ten years.

What is the Process Like?

A porcelain veneers treatment can be completed in just two office visits.

During the first visit, we will use a local anesthetic for comfort while your teeth are prepared. Dr. Riforgiate will lightly buff and shape the surface to accommodate the thickness of the veneer. Though they are less than a millimeter thick, the additional mass would make a noticeable difference in the delicate oral structure.

A mold or impression of each tooth is taken, and a color and shape will then be chosen by you and Dr. Riforgiate. Patients are provided temporary crowns to wear while the lab makes the veneers.

On the second visit, the teeth will be cleansed and prepared with special liquids to achieve a durable bond. Bonding cement is then placed between each tooth and veneer, and a special light is used to harden and set the bond. Dr. Riforgiate always has you check the color before final bonding of your veneers.

After your visit, you will receive care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits will extend the life of your beautiful veneers.

Veneers can chip or break under severe conditions and may have to be replaced. In our experience, only the strongest materials we have today are more durable that the teeth they are restoring! It is important to have the proper support from your back molars to protect your anterior teeth.
